Need A Fresh Start With Your Dog?
Then An Online Dog Listening Consultation Is The Smartest Way To Go
Welcome to a revolutionary (but in truth ancient) approach to living with dogs... and welcome to your happy, relaxed and joyful doglife! I'm Katrin Brandberg, founder of Thriving Mutts, where I help dog owners all over the world find harmony and joy in life with their dogs. I started Thriving Mutts because I want you to experience all the fun and love that can be had when living with a dog!
I'm a certified Jan Fennel Dog Listener. I have gone through extensive training, and been made to show that I can properly address a situation where a dog owner has issues with their dog and then guide them to the solution.
I have lived with dogs all my life, of all sizes and temperaments. The last 15 years I have only had rescue dogs. Not knowing the background of the dog you bring home is a challenge in itself.
When Lola, our sweet whippet sized sighthound mix, arrived at our house six years ago, she proved to be more of a challenge than I had ever seen before.
After a few weeks, a pretty disturbing behavior started to show. She screamed, lunged and twisted on the lead, and also nipped on our legs, as soon as she even spotted a dog from afar. Never biting, but it still hurt and got our adrenalin levels up.
After trying as it seemed everything, following some not so nice advice, and finally resorting to using a muzzle to protect our legs, I heard about Dog Listening from a friend, and decided to contact a Dog Listener in my area.
That consultation changed everything for us.
We’ve stopped using the muzzle, and she hasn’t nipped on our legs for years now. She's still a sensitive and reactive dog and I think she suffered severe trauma in her dealings with other dogs before she came to us. But now I understand her at a much deeper level, and know what I need to do to lessen her fear and give her (and us!) the very best conditions to be harmonious and happy.
Now I want to help you experience the transformational effect that Dog Listening can have on your life with your dog!

Learn the secret language of your dog and become a natural leader
We sometimes forget that living with a dog is living with a thinking and feeling individual. And just like us, they need to feel safe to be happy.
But a dog is a completely different species from us. A species with another language and a different perspective on the world. They just don't need what we need to feel safe and happy.
So what does this mean for me and my dog?
Well, we can never expect that our dogs will learn our language. Nor can we ever shift their thinking about how the world works.
Instead, we must learn to intentionally communicate with our dogs. This means using behaviors and body language that tells the dog you are the leader it can trust.
Why is this important?
Most of the behaviors we find troubling in our life with dogs comes from the dog thinking it has the leadership role in your pack. For a dog, this is an impossible and very stressful task. Why? Because dogs live in a world that is very confusing to them. After all, it's designed for humans, not for dogs.
Jumping up on you or guests, endless barking, food issues, separation anxiety, pulling on the lead. These are all behaviors that can be amended through applying Dog Listening.
What does a consultation look like?
During an online consultation, we talk through what your life with your dog looks like today.
We then look into what is already good, what needs to change and why, and then we put it into the perspective of Dog Listening.
I will walk you through what your dog needs from you in terms of communication. Everything you do or don't do sends a message to your dog. I help you understand what this means and how you can easily use this send the right message that makes your dog feel safe.
You will get all the tools you need to start implementing Dog Listening into your everyday life right away!

The longer you wait, the longer it takes before your dog finally gets the clear message that you are the trusted leader. Not until then will it be able to relax so you can both start to enjoy life together!
How Is Dog Listening Different From Other Dog Training Methods?
The biggest difference is that it's actually not a dog training method.
Now WHAT do I mean by that?
It's quite simple actually.
In Dog Listening, it's not about training our dogs. Instead, it's about training ourselves to communicate with our dogs the only way they can possibly understand. The language of canines is silent and simple, but also quite complex.
This means that your focus will be on what YOU do (or perhaps don't do!) in response to what your dog does. There is a saying in the Dog Listener world:
"It doesn't matter what the dog does, all that matters is what YOU do in response to that."
Often that is - absolutely nothing. If that sounds weird, I completely understand. We are so used to being told to always take some kind of action towards the dog. Shouting at it, jerking the lead, telling it off, using devices to scare or "correct" the dog's behavior.
With Dog Listening, you do none of that. Dog Listening is always gentle, kind and fearfree, yet it's very effective and transformational.

Don't Waste Anymore Of The Precious And Short Time With Your Dog
We all know that dogs have way shorter lifespans than we do. It can feel sad, but if we make sure those short years together are happy and filled with joy, the memories will also be happy and joyful.
So please, if you still don't have the happy and relaxed relationship with your dog you long for, don't hesitate to say YES this amazing opportunity to fix that.
